Invisible Braces in Portland, Maine

Until recently, orthodontic treatment, even for the simplest cases, involved the placement of bonded metal brackets and wires onto the patient's teeth. Now most cases are accomplished using computer generated clear, removable plastic trays.

To start a case, digital scans are taken of the patient’s teeth and their bite. Photographs are taken from different angles, and the dentist makes notes about the desired outcome. This information is forwarded to a special dental lab that uses software to plan out the movements of each tooth to achieve the best result. The lab will then forward a treatment plan back to the dentist previewing the details to present to the patient. The information will include before and after images as well as an estimate of the anticipated duration of the treatment.

Once approved by the patient, the lab will fabricate computer generated clear, removable plastic trays. The trays are changed every two to three weeks to guide the teeth into their new positions. When all the steps are done, the case is complete.
